12 Statment Summer Shoes

Over the years of my excessive spending (which I’m ashamed to say there are many of) I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s no point spending a small fortune on summer shoes. You only wear them for three months out of the year and they’ll inevitably inflict heaps of pain with rubbing and blisters. That’s just a heart breaking shoe fact of life.

With that in mind, I’ve put together an edit of 12 statement summer shoes that are all under £100. I don’t mean to brag, but I think it’s a god dam gorgeous selection. Every style you could imagine is featured, from flip-flops and colorful lace ups through to party-perfect heels and welly boots (it’s Glastonbury weekend, I couldn’t resist). Just because my credit card is on a strict diet, doesn’t mean I can’t look at the beautiful menu.

The LBD and Statment Shoe

We all go into this party season with good intentions… But no matter how much I try, I cannot resist all the yummy food that’s scattered around the house. This year I’ll really leave the mince pies alone. But how long does that actually last? A day, maybe two.

So why don’t we stop fighting a losing battle and make the best of  bad thing. The LBD. The colour that can hide a multitude of sins – and what do you get to wear with a LBD? The statement shoe. It may have gained a reputation for being the lazy girls party dress, but the following five looks are sure to put an end to that…

Sequin Fringe Flapper Dress – Topshop £49

Clapham Glitter Heal – Miss Selfridge £39 £25

Total: £88 £74

Halter Neck Body Con Dress – Miss Selfridges £25

Red Contrast Toe Cap Point Court Shoes – River Island £50 £30

Total: £75 £55

Sleeveless Glitter Dress – Miss Selfridges £35

Gold Asymmetric Stiletto – River Island £45 £30

Total: £80 £65

The V-Necked Dress – Zara £59.99

Patent High Healed Mules – Zara £39.99

Total: £99.98

And I always save the best till last…

Boobtube Notch Dress – AX Paris £35

Metallic Peep Toe Shoe – Karen Millen £125

Total: £160

I have the Clapham Glitter Heal, Gold Asymmetric Stiletto (but in white) and the Boobtube Notch Dress. You can trust me when I say… Oh so fabulous.

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014

Last night in the United Kingdom, London hosted this years Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. There was fantasy bras worth $2 million on the catwalk, Taylor Swift looking DAMMMN (sorry, Harry) in black lace, Ed Sheeran pinching himself and gorgeous Ariana Grande looking tiny next to the mass of tall, beautiful models.

Ariana Grande told the Daily Star: “They are dressing me up with the prettiest things. If only I could find some stilts because I’m only 5ft 2 and all those models are six feet.”

If you have children, or have ever witnessed a small child on Christmas day, then you’ll recognise the facial expression on Ed Sheeran as he performs at last night’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. From the tousled hair, to the luminous skin and smoky eye, to the natural lip and the glowing tan, it’s any wonder that he was able to get through his whole song as his eyes darted from one model to another.

Ed had the honor of playing Thinking Out Load during the Exotic Traveller section of the show. Twitter erupted with comments on Ed’s gleeful face as two models walked wearing the famous Fantasy Bras. Let’s be honest, any 23 year old lad would be exactly the same? I’m a woman, and not that way inclined but can’t take my eyes off the beautiful models!

One wrote: “Ed Sheeran at the Victoria’s Secret show looks like he’s in actual heaven”

Another added: “Love Ed Sheeran struggling to keep his eyes up at the Victoria’s Secret show…”

Models Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima were tasked with strutting their stuff down the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Show in the dazzling $2million Dream Angels Fantasy Bras. Each of this year’s designs was made by Mouawad jewellers using 16,000 rubies, diamonds and sapphires, all of which are strung together with 18 karat gold. The ornate ensembles took the designers more than 1,380 hours to make.

Taylor Swift took to the Victoria’s Secret stage, high-fiving her best pals Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge. Taylor wore a couple of ensembles for the show, but this stunning little tiny black number was my personal favorite!
